Life at risk

There are special situations in which the use of contraceptives is not only allowed, but obligatory. This applies to cases where a person’s life needs to be protected.

		First Example The husband has contracted AIDS and may come back home drunk. The wife has to use a contraceptive to protect herself from catching the disease.
Second Example A wife may have been diagnosed as incapable of surviving another pregnancy. The husband should use a contraceptive to protect her.
